Quality of Life Indicators

Quality of life indicators are simply the answers to the question, “What matters most to the people who live in the Truckee Meadows?” They were first selected in 1993 with extensive input from citizens throughout our community, with community updates in 2000 and most recently 2006.  The indicators serve as reminders and rallying points around which community-minded individuals and groups can focus their efforts to make a measurable difference.

What constitutes good community indicators?

  • Actionable—collaborative improvement efforts deliver results
  • Meaningful, valuable and important—serve as an early warning system to redouble our efforts
  • Measurable—reliable and consistent measures are available to track data trends over time
  • Indicator metrics are updated online as new data measures become available. Click on the Quality of Life categories in the left side-bar to view data metrics for each of 33 community indicators (note that only TMT members can download indicator data).

A comprehensive “Community Wellbeing Report” was published in the January 28, 2008 issue of Northern Nevada Business Weekly.
